Dot for Haart patients are encouraged to attend daily and are directly
observed taking their medications. This regular daily adherence ensures
maximum treatment benefit optimal health maintenance. The DOT approach is highly effective for treatment of Tuberculosis and HIV and may be beneficial for other illnesses such as Hepatitis, Diabetes and Schizophrenia. |

HAART

Highly Active Anti-retroviral Treatment: Daily adherence to HAART is
proven to decrease blood levels of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)
and increase the immune system cell counts. This decreases the risk of
HIV transmission to others and delays HIV disease progression to AIDS. HAART is only effective when taken over 90% of the time and does not work when multiple doses are missed. But regular HAART is difficult because of medication timing and complexity, and treatment side effects. |
