DOT for HAART presently operates out of a single Edmonton downtown property at 9527 103 Ave
Assistance is required for
- staffing costs ($over 4000/month) or volunteer assistance
- leasing costs (over $1000/month) and
- renovation and repair costs or volunteer assistance
An estimated 100-200 inner city residents are homeless with HIV or other
chronic illness requiring complex medical treatment (DOT for HAART is
staffed seven days a week by an LPN and/or physician and an outreach
worker and/or peer counsellor, but is always in need of a volunteer
administrator, nursing assistants, counsellors and social workers)
WHAT PATIENTS NEED TO DO
- Sustain their desire for wellness.
- Maintain access to their Family Physician and/or Specialist.
- Commit to daily or weekly attendance with the DOT for HAART program
- Establish and maintain respect for themselves and others
- Remain committed to their treatment
- Participate actively in the program
- Hold on to their desire for wellness
